10 x Europan

02.02.2010 - 16.05.2010

Musempark 25 NAi 3015 CB Rotterdam, Netherlands

After the competition is concluded the winners are given a commission for the realisation of the winning design, or for a further study, or a design for an alternative site. With this, Europan aims to give form to a Europe in which young and promising architects can contribute to regeneration in the field of spatial design.

10 x Europan in the Netherlands marks a milestone. Part of this exhibition therefore examines the results of Europan 1 to 9. Scalemodels of then and now, winners pronouncements and pictures of realised projects bring to life the nine competition rounds, more than twenty years of Europan in the Netherlands. The other part of this exhibition displays the results of the tenth completion round in the Netherlands.

In 2009 the theme of Europan 10 was Inventing Urbanity. In the whole of Europe there were 62 sites in 19 countries from which the participating architects and teams of architects could choose to make a plan. In total 2,429 plans were entered.

In the Nederlands the sites were situated in Emmen, Den Haag, Maastricht and Utrecht. The 184 entries for the Dutch sites were adjudicated by a jury under the leadership of Annemiek Rijckenberg. The publication with the results of Europan 10 in the Netherlands will be on sale from 23 January 2010 at NAI Booksellers, among other stores.
