From Research to Design - Selected Architects from Tongji University of Shanghai

Opening up September 4 at 5pm with a lecture by 2012 Pritzker Prize Winner, architect Wang Shu, the exhibition of projects of Chinese architects focuses on the theoretical research on architecture and design as well as building practice currently found fertile ground in any contemporary China but particularly in the city of Shanghai. Organized by La Triennale of Milan and the Degree Course in Engineering/Architecture from the University of Pavia, yhe center of the debate will be on urban development and architecture thanks to the cultural milieu linked to Tongji University. Tongji University, with which the Degree Course in Engineering/Architecture from the University of Pavia has signed important agreements such as the Double Degree Programme in Building Engineering and Architecture for the exchange of students and faculty and the mutual recognition of diploma , form designers and architects ? even of Pavia ? capable of representing the world?s high quality contemporary Chinese architecture now reached on the issues of introducing into the environment, attention to detail, innovation of materials, attention sustainable development as evidenced by the buildings of the Expo 2010 in Shanghai and some projects.

The recent awarding of the 2012 Pritzker Prize, considered the Nobel Prize for Architecture, the Chinese architect Wang Shu was an opportunity to perform a more thorough recognition of this reality and start thinking disciplinary design illustrated by the selection of projects twenty-seven Chinese architects formed precisely through the Tongji University in Shanghai.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on September 4, followed by a lecture of the same Wang Shu, introduced by Prof. Zheng Shiling (Member of The Chinese Academy of Sciences), with the presentation of Prof. Angelo Bugatti (President of Degree Course Engineering / Architecture from the University of Pavia) and Claudio De Albertis, President of the Milan Triennale.
