Coy Howard: Part I - From Hand to Mouse, From Furniture to Architecture
08.10.2010 - 07.11.2010
960 E. 3rd Street, Southern California Institute of Architecture, Los Angeles, CA 90013 , USA
The
exhibition comprises 50 images of three of Howards speculative
architectural projects and a selection of furniture designs that
investigate formal inventiveness and individual artistic vision. Each
image aims to seduce the viewer to relish the act of seeing, which is
heightened as viewers engage with the work by first moving a sheer
curtain behind which the images are mounted.
In this exhibition
Howard, who positions himself as an apostle of opposites and mystery,
proposes a new and innovative architecture. Present in these images is
a hint of a built future made rich with new materials and technologies,
yet full of deep memories and poignant desires.
Part I of Coy Howard s exhibition was generously funded by a gift from Max Palevsky.
