To mark the 10th jubilee of the European Urban Public Space Awards the Az W is holding an exhibition dedicated to public space: not only with a presentation of the winning projects from throughout Europe but also by pursuing the subjects of the production and negotiability of public space.

What exactly is 'public space'? How does it arise? Who does it belong to? Does it still exist? To what extent do built structures and political conditions support or hinder the potential negotiability of public space? What are the new challenges posed to public space by Internet and social networks? These and other questions are addressed on the basis of current examples. Workshops and excursions provide an additional firsthand and diverting engagement with strategies of resistance and appropriation.
