Anastassios Μ. Kotsiopoulos is Professor at the School of Architecture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Athens in the Cheir of "Architectural Design". He practices architecture since 1971. From 1984 until 1995, partners of his practice have been the architects D. Nikolaou, C. Pantazidis, D. Daki, E. Spartsi, N. Arvanitopoulou, G. Horozoglou and V. Karalazos, whether in some projects there was collaboration with M. Papanikolaou, I. Sakellaridou and other architects. Since 1997 he runs the architectural practice 'A.M. Kotsiopoulos and partners' along with the architects Emmy Zoumboulidou and Alina Parou.

The practice's projects include the master plans for six Greek universities and a series of public and private buildings. Most of them have been published in architectural magazines and have been presented in several exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Two of these buildings have been selected by the Hellenic Institute of Architecture and the Deutsches Architektur Museum among the 130 most important buildings of the 20th century in Greece. Two other of the practice's buildings have been selected and published in both the successive editions of "The Phaidon Attas of World Architecture" (2004 and 2008) while the 36/2002 issue of the annual review 'Architecture in Greece" includes an extensive presentation of A. Kotsiopoulos work. The underground extension of the Aristotle University Main Library (architects: A.M. Kotsiopoulos. M. Papanikobou. I. Sakellaridou) has been awarded, by an international jury, the first prize of the Hellenic Institute of Architecture "Architecture Awards 2000", as the best public building in Greece of the period 1995-1999. The new headquarters building for the aluminium company 'Alumil (architects: A.M. Kotsiopoulos. A. Panou, E. Zoumboulidou. 2003) has been awarded, also by an international jury, one of the three equal prizes of the Mediterranean International Competition sponsored by U.I.A. (2003) for buildings with sustainable aluminium facades. Finally, the Cultural and Recreation Centre in the Archaeological Site of the School of Aristotle at Naoussa (architects: A.M. Kotsiopoulos, A. Panou. E. Zoumboulidou. 2005) was selected - along with other 4 projects - to represent Greece in the "European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture". Mies van der Rohe Award 2007, and also was awarded a special prize in the Competition of the Hellenic Institute of Architecture "Architecture Awards 2008".

Since the early 9O's, the practice's members have been systematically concerned with sustainable and energy-saving architecture, either through designing underground buildings (Aristotle University Main Library, Aristotle University Faculty of Humanities etc), or through a series of projects focusing on the "skin"' of the buildings as a climatic transformer. Specifically, the pursuit of the sustainable building's "skin" has led the practice to approaches like a multilayered metallic skin (Headquarters building for the Alumil Company, Aristotle University's five metal cubes), a wooden semi-transparent grid (House in Ano Poli Thessaloniki, Cultural and Recreation Centre at the Archaeological Site of the School of Aristotle, Naoussa) and a green grid (Office building in Thessaloniki. Shopping mall in Alexandroupoli). The projects with sustainable energy characteristics a re specially marked and followed by specific comments.

The last decade the members of the practice are Main Partners:
