Founded in November 2004, Galeria Leme explores and realizes new ideas and experiments in contemporary art and has, since its inception, maintained an international perspective.
The building, designed specifically to serve as an art gallery, is made entirely from bare concrete, has 420m² of available space and a 9m high skylight.
Galeria Leme represents Brazilian and international artists, with an emphasis on Latin America. These artists work with all kinds of media: photography, painting, installation, sculpture, video, projection, site-specific, among others. One of the gallery's main concerns is to promote diversity in art, as well as an intense cultural exchange.
Since September 2006, a project room across the street has been available for artists in residence. This annex functions both as a studio and an exhibition space, giving the public the opportunity to see works in progress.
