Message from the JOB (Tohoku Kanto Earthquake)

The UIA2011Tokyo Japan organizing Board sincerely expresses its condolences to the victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami that occurred in northeastern Japan.  Additionally, the messages of heartfelt concern and condolences received from architects from all over the world are deeply appreciated by the Japanese people.
Preparations for the 24th World Congress of Architecture (UIA2011Tokyo) continue to progress, and we look forward to welcoming those participants who plan to visit Japan for the event.  We also look forward to having the opportunity to discuss this recent tragedy as it pertains to architecture, and exchanging ideas about solutions to the challenges presented to architects by the ever present threat of natural disasters.

Yoshiaki Ogura, President, UIA 2011 Japan Organizing Board
