Transforming the work environment through the arts

TRANSFORMATION is this years’ theme at the World Architecture Festival.
And TRANSFORMATION is the title of a specially commissioned bronze sculptures by international renowned artist Serge Moro, which is the prize for the Art & Work Awards winners for this international edition.

The sculpture depicts a TRANSFORMATION from the past, pre Columbian, to Futuristic,Major installations completed by Serge Moro include monumental pieces for the corporate headquarters of GlaxoSmithKline in London, the INMARSAT headquarters in London, the World Trade Center tower in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and the CERN research center in Geneva, Switzerland.

Serge Moro says:
“These sculptures are a “prove d’ artist”, four unique exemplars to award four special projects.A short edition especially designed for the Art & Work Awards, It has been a great pleasure to support this initiative which gives me the opportunity to meet so many architects from all around the world”Winners will receive their prizes during a never to be forgotten awards ceremony host by artist Xavier Corbero - considered by many to be Spain’s premier living artist - at his studio in Espluges de Llobregat, Barcelona.

The Art & Work Awards categories that will be presented during the ceremony are:
· Art commissioned for specific sites in the working environment
· Christie’s Awards for the best Corporate Art Collections and Programmes
· The most Outstanding Contribution to Art in the Workplace

On Thursday 4th November, 12.30 at CCIB, transformation will be the focus of a seminar on “How art can transform the public spaces and the workplace” with Will Alsop OBE, Paul Finch OBE and Alex Heath will explore different approaches on the transforming power of the arts in the work environment.

Peter Harris, Chairman of the Art & Work Awards says:
“It is amazing how works of art can be used to depict a complete philosophy whether it be for a conference, a company or even a country. In this case TRANSFORMATION is simply the essence of one sculpture but spreads far and wide”.
