The Museum of Tolerance in Jerusalem has been hit once more by controversy and disagreement as a municipal officer admitted to local news source Haaretz.com that ‘The Wiesenthal Center drove the architects crazy. It asked for daily briefings and nagged them to death’. Architects Bracha and Michael Chyutin have suggested that they may resign from the project citing differences with the Simon Wiesenthal Center in LA, the organisation funding the $100m project. ![]() First designed by Frank Gehry, the Museum of Tolerance was originally thought to be too extravagant for the global economic situation and Gehry’s complex design downsized for Chyutin Architects’ more modest scheme. Over the past few years, concerns have also risen on the location of the museum site, with various Islamic organisations undertaking legal proceedings to halt construction due to the existence of a 1,000 year old Muslim ceremony on the construction site.
