The project, which is the largest ever for the firm, will be located on a 16.5 hectare parcel of land currently occupied by Frankfurt University, which will vacate the site in 2014. ![]() Image © Adjaye Associates ![]() Image © Adjaye Associates Adjaye’s plans call for grouping the cultural organisations around a single shared foyer, to which they will be connected. In addition to the cultural organisations the complex will support a rich mix of uses including but not limited to apartments, offices and shops. The vision says Adjaye is that of a ‘micro-city, a multi-functional space, which combines the main performing spaces of the cultural institutions, retail, cafes and the market hall, that fosters interaction between the creative disciplines’. ![]() Image © Adjaye Associates Forecourts provided on the perimeter accentuate access points to the main foyer, enabling circulation through the cultural campus, which is porous and open to the city. The different uses are also layered vertically as well as horizontally across the site. The plan is preliminary but glass and stone materials are envisioned. Source: www.worldarchitecturenews.com |
