In 1965, Alabama Home Builders Parade featured the 'Quite Home' concept offering domestic tranquility (acoustical ceiling panels that is.) The houses were built for the style conscious individualists. All were constructed with the rigid requirements of the scientific principles of the 'Quite Home' construction. Introduced models included; the Greenview Relay House, the Aristocrat, the La-Due Manor, the Diane and the Whisper. Special moments of the somewhat still relevant videos include lessons on subdivision development, community building, demonstrative construction methods, marketing tips, networking, early reality show concept of actual builder action, black basement diggers, quick installation demonstrations by carpenters with cigarettes in their mouths, an interview with the Birmingham Alabama Home Builders Association president and much more. The film is wall to wall capture of industrial propaganda and scientific society film genre in early infomercial style. Wear and tear of the film is irrelevant and the sound is of good quality. The narration renders the premise of a majestic utopia in a purely epic voice. > archinect.com |
