The International Union of Architects (UIA) and The UIA2011 TOKYO Japan Organizing Board (JOB) have announced that "UIA2011 TOKYO is on track despite the disasters that hit Eastern Japan!"

The 4th Coordinating Council of UIA2011 Tokyo, held on April 8 and 9, 2011, and examined intensively the current situation after March 11 and reached the conclusion to make maximum efforts for the success of the Congress, the General Assemble and Council Meetings in Tokyo as scheduled (September 25 through October 1, 2011)  "Architects acting beyond Disasters, through Solidarity, towards Sustainability."

* UIA2011 TOKYO Youth Jamboree entries being accepted!

The UIA2011 TOKYO Japan Organizing Board (JOB) has announced that entries for the UIA2011 TOKYO Youth Jamboree are now being accepted.  This is an international workshop focused on students of architecture and young architects will be held in Tokyo from September 22 through 29, 2011.

Theme: KIZUNA - agenda of Tokyo beyond 3.11 - The enormous damage of the devastating earthquake disproved the confidence in architecture and infrastructure in Japan.  While compared with the area which suffered the direct onslaught of the earthquake disaster, the damage to the capital city, Tokyo, might only be slight, now, it must be time to ask ourselves again, how architecture can prepare, resist, and make the future assuming the earthquake in Tokyo.  Learning from 3.11, we hope to investigate and explore the new possibilities of architecture for the future with participants from all over the world.

* UIA2011 TOKYO Student Competition deadline re-extended to May 31

The UIA2011 TOKYO Japan Organizing Board (JOB) has announced that the UIA2011 TOKYO Student Competition will be re-extended to May 31, 2011 (Tuesday), 18:00 Japan time, so that applicants will have sufficient time to study disaster counter-measures for each theme and incorporate these into concrete proposals.

The new deadline for submission of applications for the Students Competition is:
Deadline is 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 (JST).

* 10,000 World Architects Exhibition entries being accepted and the
exhibition register of the POSTER EXHIBITION being started!

The UIA2011 TOKYO Japan Organizing Board (JOB) has announced that entries for the 10,000 World Architects Exhibition, one of the core events at UIA2011 TOKYO are being accepted.  The UIA2011 TOKYO: The 24th World Congress of Architecture will take place in Tokyo, Japan from September 25.

To mark the significance of this event, we are hosting the 10,000 World Architects Exhibition. Symbolizing UIA2011 Tokyo, this exhibition will convey the messages of architects from around the world through the medium of one project image per architect.  Japanese and international architects are invited to participate in the creation of this exhibition, which is open to all architects regardless of affiliation.  The exhibition seeks to promote understanding of cultures in different countries through architecture, as well as to convey the architects' messages and their works across a broad spectrum of society.

open! architecture 2011 being held until June 5!
The UIA2011 TOKYO Japan Organizing Board (JOB) has announced that registration for the open! architecture is being held until June 5. The Japanese version of European Heritage Days, open ! architecture is held four times this year, with the second session being held from September 23 through October 2, 2011. Visits to various public and private buildings will be sponsored.

The UIA2011 TOKYO Japan Organizing Board (JOB) has announced that UIA 2011 TOKYO 111 Days Before Exhibition (relief activities for Great East Japan Earthquake) is being held until June 29, 2011.  This exhibition includes the presentation of UIA2011 TOKYO, relief activities for Great East Japan Earthquake, and RYTAI-RYTAI Republic of Lithuania Japanese architects EAST-EAST 3.
