Beijing. I am lost in the city. No-existence of existence, zero position, one in fourteen millions souls… A city, a sense of a city and the definition of identity, well hidden behind the masks of Opera heroes. Who’s the real city and who’s the ideal?
Who’s the city registered in the shiny palaces and the eternal graphic gardens, in the narrow hutongs flooding by the cyclists who carrying tourists, in the advertisements on the digital fronts and the architectural magazines, in the bottlenecked streets, the bazaars and the Soho_China commercial centres?
The human crowd overwhelm the urban land, absorbs monuments, historical structures, in-spired architectures. It is the fluid matter that dissolves the ideal city into the real one and the reverse.
Shanghai Shuffle**
In Shanghai you will not find the sin city of the world, the city of love drugs-addicts, the at-mospheric city of the world writers.
In Shanghai, a version of the urban future smiles to you, either provocatively false and unsta-ble, or sweeping, stretched out in gigantic built-up walls.
In the night, in Bund, the city_screen, the city_digital game changes you in hypnotic player. From the Bar Rouge balcony, a saxophone playing the Shanghai Shuffle, it is heard almost inappropriate. A chronicle incoherence, a time gap…
