Bio

After completing his graduate studies in architecture (Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris) and earning a Masters’ degree in urban planning with honors at Columbia University, Nabil joined Ricardo Bofill’s Taller de Arquitectura, and brought to completion a broad range of projects in over 20 countries. In 1994 Nabil Gholam decided to set up his own practice and founded Nabil Gholam architecture & planning (NGAP) in Beirut. In parallel with ngª’s growing reach, a European office has been established in Barcelona in 2006 and relocated to Seville in 2010 in order to direct the firm’s international ventures. In 2009, on the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of the firm, a new graphic identity and website were launched under the name of nabil gholam architects (ngª).

Today the practice has expanded to over 70 full-time like-minded foreign and national professionals working with the support of several former team members and a broad network of top international specialty consultants. To date, the portfolio of ngª comprises over 200 projects ranging from an eighty square meter shop in London to a 100 million square meter master plan for ecological communities in Mount Lebanon. This extensive experience along with a history of successful competition entries and numerous professional awards illustrate its commitment and ability to consistently deliver unique solutions that meet the clients’ needs, on budget and on time.

ngª is currently undertaking several prestigious works in Lebanon, the Middle East, and Europe either through competition winning entries or direct commissions.

In addition to viewing each project as a new and unique functional and formal challenge, ngª aims to inspire its design with an expression of sensual tranquility and delight. It strives to create neighborhoods, buildings and objects that lead to a sense of discovery, and express not only design excellence and harmony, but also a lasting simplicity and playful serenity. In summary, ngª has become a specialized and award winning international design firm.
