Fentress Architects’ design won first place in a national competition by best representing the community values and natural environment of Clark County.
Subsequently, the Clark County Government Center garnered national recognition as a project that embodies and defines civic architecture today. Melding functional design with an authentic sense of place, the four-building complex forms a central public gathering space with one of the oldest forms of community geometry: the circle. The structures’ outstretched arms embrace indigenous materials and forms to blend with their natural surroundings. A welcome contrast to the Las Vegas Strip’s garish character, the design won first place People’s Choice for “Best Non-Hotel Architecture” in the Las Vegas Review-Journal eight consecutive years and two AIA Honor Awards from regional chapters.
