A state-of-the-art, user-friendly civic center, the San Joaquin County Administration Building consolidates administrative functions and establishes a strong civic identity for the county government.
The glass atrium, which rises dramatically from the plaza, symbolizes the transparency and accessibility of government. While its form recalls stone formations in Yosemite, the design is forward-looking, integrating the latest technology. The architecture complements Stockton’s historic downtown with massing and materials to achieve a human scale. The building shows promise in serving as a catalyst for revitalization in the downtown area with an urban design that increases pedestrian traffic.
The energy-efficient building utilizes recycled and low-VOC materials and water-efficient fixtures.
