This client’s hope was to live in a house that is just like a renovated warehouse. The type of houses is diversified into various kinds, and such a house is prevalent on the ground of financial terms. However, it was necessary to solve problems regarding the heat insulation capacity and the construction in order to convert a warehouse into a house. As a result, it costs the same amount as new construction. Therefore, architects built a new house like a renovated warehouse by pursuing diversified and productive open spaces.

As for the ground, it sits between the old residential area and a new land for sale in lots. And it’s an area enclosed by residential roads. First, the architects made a building like an existing warehouse, and then they designed it carefully as if the client renovated it. They managed to make a white-cube inside the building and then put rooms that needed privacy inside the cube. In doing so, we valued the connection of the inside and the outside. ALTS Design Office made a split level house, and dare to make non-exclusive rooms while planning the floor and also created open spaces so that the client would be able to arrange them to suit the lifestyle.

Architects could take account the durability and the environmental burden because of new construction and, in addition to that, they could add some temporal complexity as if it was an existing building. Then there is hope that the client will live a spiritually affluent life inside this house adding depth to it.
